This study explores the cemetery as a cultural third space, a concept introduced by Homi K. Bhabha (1994), where different belief systems and historical legacies intersect, negotiate, and form new identities. The research applies a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews and direct observation, focusing on the perceptions of local caretakers and community members. Findings reveal that Islamic elements are present in tombstone inscriptions, Arabic calligraphy, and pilgrimage practices associated with Syekh Jumadil Kubro, a key figure in Javanese Islamization. Simultaneously, Hindu-Buddhist influences persist through architectural structures like kijing and symbols such as Surya Majapahit, while modern features—such as tourism and infrastructure development—further shape the site's identity. Ritual practices like incense burning, flower offerings, and local cosmological concepts highlight syncretic expressions of spirituality rooted in Javanese culture. These complex layers of religiosity and symbolism challenge rigid categorizations of identity, instead revealing a dynamic cultural landscape formed through historical negotiation and continuity. The study concludes that Troloyo Cemetery functions not merely as a sacred Islamic site but as a hybrid space where cultural and religious forms co-exist and evolve, offering a deeper understanding of Indonesia's plural spiritual heritage.
2026-04-27T10:42:44+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Amsirhttps://www.journal.stieamsir.ac.id/index.php/abrj/article/view/729Accentuating Unabridged vs Abridged Audiobooks within Narrative Speech Materials2026-05-30T17:21:11+07:00Ni Nyoman Sarmini.nyoman@unitomo.ac.idSayla Nur Syahfah Ramadhanisaylanur0123@mail.comAnanda Firda Pratamaanandafirda0122@mail.comUais Alqarnie Sayyidut Tabi’intabi0123@mail.comRommel Utungga Pasopatirommelpasopati@yahoo.comAnicleta Yuliastutianicletayuliassss@mail.com
This study examines the distinctions between unabridged and abridged audiobooks within the context of narrative speech materials, with a focus on how textual completeness influences listener comprehension, engagement, and interpretive depth. Unabridged audiobooks preserve the full linguistic and stylistic features of the original text, offering a comprehensive narrative experience that supports detailed understanding and authorial intent. In contrast, abridged audiobooks condense content to prioritize brevity and accessibility, often modifying narrative structure, pacing, and emphasis. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research analyzes selected narrative recordings across both formats, incorporating listener response data and discourse analysis to evaluate differences in retention, emotional engagement, and narrative coherence. Findings suggest that while abridged versions enhance accessibility and time efficiency, they may reduce exposure to nuanced language patterns and character development. Conversely, unabridged audiobooks provide richer linguistic input but require greater listener investment. The study underscores the importance of aligning audiobook format with communicative goals in educational and applied linguistic contexts. In conclusion, by accentuating the trade-offs between completeness and concision, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of how narrative speech materials can be optimized for diverse audiences and listening purposes.
2026-04-27T10:57:31+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Amsirhttps://www.journal.stieamsir.ac.id/index.php/abrj/article/view/734Normative Analysis of Customary Offenses in the Criminal Code and Their Implications in West Sulawesi 2026-05-30T17:20:56+07:00Muhammad Al Habsy Ahmadhabsyahmad30@gmail.com
This study aims to conduct a normative legal analysis of the regulation of customary offenses (delik adat) within the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) and to examine its implications for the settlement of customary law cases in Sulawesi Barat. This research employs a normative legal method by analyzing primary legal materials, including statutory regulations, particularly the KUHP, and secondary legal materials such as legal doctrines, scholarly articles, and relevant literature. The data were collected through a library research approach and analyzed qualitatively using statutory and conceptual approaches. The findings reveal that the regulation of customary offenses in the KUHP reflects the recognition of living law within society. However, its application presents several challenges, including issues of legal certainty, limitations in interpretation, and the need for harmonization between customary law and national law. Furthermore, the incorporation of customary offenses provides an opportunity for more contextual and culturally responsive dispute resolution mechanisms. Nevertheless, clearer regulatory frameworks and technical guidelines are required to prevent ambiguity in legal enforcement. This study concludes that the normative regulation of customary offenses in the KUHP has the potential to strengthen a more just and culturally grounded national legal system, particularly in resolving customary law cases in Sulawesi Barat. Therefore, it is essential to ensure normative synchronization and enhance the capacity of law enforcement authorities in understanding and implementing these provisions effectively.
2026-04-27T11:21:28+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Amsirhttps://www.journal.stieamsir.ac.id/index.php/abrj/article/view/735Recontextualizing English Language Teaching through Local Wisdom in Islamic Higher Education: Insights from Lecturer Perspectives2026-05-30T17:20:41+07:00Andi Magfirahfmagfirah33@gmail.comNurul Hasanahnurulhasanah@iainpare.ac.idHardiyanti Hardiyantihrdyaantyr@gmail.comSuci Pratiwisucipratiwii002@gmail.com
This study investigates the integration of local wisdom into English Language Teaching (ELT) within the context of Islamic higher education, highlighting its role in enhancing pedagogical quality and cultural relevance. In many ELT settings, instructional practices remain dominated by globalized content that often overlooks local cultural identity and religious values. This research adopts a qualitative design using a census sampling technique involving all 18 English lecturers at IAIN Parepare, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted via digital platforms and direct interactions, and analyzed using thematic analysis, including coding, categorization, and interpretation. The findings indicate that lecturers perceive local wisdom as a valuable pedagogical approach that enhances student motivation, engagement, and comprehension by contextualizing learning through local cultural narratives and Islamic values. However, the integration of local wisdom is not yet fully optimized due to challenges such as limited curriculum support, insufficient institutional policies, lack of teaching resources, and resistance to pedagogical change. This study contributes to the development of culturally responsive pedagogy in ELT by demonstrating that integrating local wisdom can enrich learning experiences and strengthen students’ cultural and religious identity. It also offers practical implications for curriculum development, teacher training, and institutional policy reform in Islamic higher education.
2026-04-27T11:40:39+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Amsirhttps://www.journal.stieamsir.ac.id/index.php/abrj/article/view/730Spotlighting Plot Twists Within the Brevity of Flash Fiction2026-05-30T17:20:27+07:00Novanda Lukwita Hakimnovanda99@mail.comHappy Julia Rahmadiantihappy01234@mail.comNasywa Nuzula Ramadhaninasywa777@mail.comRindrah Kartiningsihrindrah.kartiningsih@unitomo.ac.idRommel Utungga Pasopatirommelpasopati@yahoo.comAnicleta Yuliastutianicletayuliassss@mail.com
This study examines how plot twists operate effectively within the constraints of flash fiction. Flash fiction, commonly defined as narratives under 1,000 words, has developed into a distinctive literary form characterized by extreme brevity and narrative economy. Despite its compressed structure, flash fiction can produce strong emotional and intellectual effects, often through the use of plot twists. These twists function as a crucial narrative strategy that subverts reader expectations and intensifies the impact of the story’s ending. In a genre where extensive characterization and detailed exposition are limited, plot twists become a central mechanism for creating narrative depth and maintaining reader engagement. The research aims to analyze narrative techniques that allow authors to construct impactful twists despite strict word limits. Using a qualitative textual analysis approach, the study analyzes selected flash fiction works that feature notable plot reversals. The analysis focuses on key narrative elements, including the structural placement of twists, foreshadowing, misdirection, and the strategic use of minimal detail. The findings indicate that successful plot twists in flash fiction depend on narrative compression, the manipulation of reader expectations, and the creation of cognitive surprise that encourages readers to reinterpret earlier elements of the story. In conclusion, it is proven that these strategies demonstrate how brevity can enhance, rather than limit, narrative complexity in micro-narratives.
2026-05-07T15:09:19+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Amsirhttps://www.journal.stieamsir.ac.id/index.php/abrj/article/view/731Daijin’s Moral Responsibility in Suzume no Tojimari (2022)2026-05-30T17:20:10+07:00Alvina Salshabilla Linjani Putrialvinaslp@mail.comMuhammad Ilham Rahmansyahilhamrosks@mail.comDian Oktaviadianoktavv@mail.comHappy Julia Rahmadiantihappy01234@mail.comRommel Utungga Pasopatirommelpasopati@yahoo.comAnicleta Yuliastutianicletayuliassss@mail.com
This study explores the concept of moral responsibility through the character of Daijin in the animated film Suzume no Tojimari. This study was conducted because there are still few studies that highlight how animated films depict moral responsibility, especially through non-human characters. By analyzing Daijin’s actions, decisions, and their consequences, the research examines how moral agency is portrayed in a fantastical setting. Using textual analysis through qualitative method, the study identifies key themes such as duty, sacrifice, and the conflict between personal desires and collective well-being. The findings reveal that Daijin’s transformation from a reluctant guardian to a figure of responsibility that does personal sacrifice reflects moral responsibility, including reasons-responsiveness, forward-looking responsibility, and reactive attitudes. This study is expected to contribute to moral and film studies by showing that animated films can also be a means of learning ethical values. In conclusion, Suzume no Tojimari offers a thought-provoking exploration of moral responsibility. Daijin's storyline serves as a powerful reminder of the complexities inherent in navigating ethical dilemmas, especially when faced with choices that impact both personal and collective fates.
2026-05-07T15:17:46+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Amsirhttps://www.journal.stieamsir.ac.id/index.php/abrj/article/view/732The Influence of Brand Image, Price and Promotion on Purchasing Decisions of Aquviva Mineral Water Products among Makassar City2026-05-30T17:19:56+07:00Andi Alfianto Anugrah Ilahialvian260@gmail.comMuhammad Syauqi Saidsyiuqisaid@gmail.com
This study aims to analyze the influence of brand image, price, and promotion on purchasing decisions for Aquviva mineral water products among consumers in Makassar City. Academic writing has become an essential skill for university students, particularly in responding to the demands of scholarly communication and academic publication. However, many students still encounter difficulties in organizing ideas, developing arguments, maintaining coherence, and applying appropriate academic conventions. Traditional teacher-centered approaches are often considered less effective in fostering active engagement and critical thinking during the writing process. Therefore, this study proposes an interactive-based academic writing instruction model that emphasizes collaboration, discussion, feedback exchange, and active student participation. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving university students enrolled in an Academic Writing course. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, documentation, and analysis of students’ writing performances. The findings indicate that the interactive-based instructional model significantly enhanced students’ engagement, confidence, and writing competence. Students demonstrated improvements in idea development, organization, academic vocabulary, grammatical accuracy, and critical argumentation. Furthermore, collaborative interaction between students and lecturers created a more supportive and reflective learning environment. The study concludes that interactive-based academic writing instruction provides an effective pedagogical framework for improving students’ academic writing competence and promoting active learning in higher education contexts.
2026-05-15T19:53:09+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Amsirhttps://www.journal.stieamsir.ac.id/index.php/abrj/article/view/746Teaching Voiced and Voiceless Sounds in EFL Classrooms: A Conceptual Review of Challenges and Pedagogical Strategies 2026-05-30T17:19:28+07:00Aswar Aswaraswar2220@iainpare.ac.idAbdul Rahman R.Ammanyuyu54@gmail.com
This article presents a conceptual review grounded in three theoretical pillars:
phonological theory, first language (L1) transfer theory, and intelligibility-based pronunciation
instruction. Three primary challenges are identified: L1 phonological interference, articulatory
and perceptual difficulty, and limited phonological awareness among learners and teachers. Four
evidence-based pedagogical strategies are proposed: explicit phonological instruction, minimal
pair practice embedded in communicative tasks, auditory discrimination training, and
technology-assisted pronunciation tools. The article argues that the intelligibility principle should
guide instructional priorities, with high-functional-load contrasts such as /s/–/z/, /t/–/d/, and /f/
/v/ receiving primary attention.
